Steps to Membership

The Mount Moriah CONNECTIONS Ministry acronym stands for “Connecting Newcomers Now Entering Christian Transformation.”  The goal of the Connections Ministry is to welcome guests and to lead new member candidates to Christ and into the Tribe Ministry of the church.  This includes laying the foundation of faith and repentance through sharing the Gospel, New Member’s Orientation classes, and encouraging identification with Christ in baptism.  We essentially help outsiders become insiders.

Decision Counseling

When a guest expresses a desire to accept Jesus Christ as Savior or when a believer desires to become a part of the Mount Moriah, we hold a brief counseling session to share the Gospel.  During this time we also share New Member requirements and material, collect contact information, provide Tribe assignments, and share dates of upcoming events.

New Member‘s Orientation

To receive full membership at Mount Moriah, each person 12 years of age and older must complete a series of New Member Orientation classes.  The classes cover the booklet entitled, Taking the Next Step:  A Guide for New Church Members, in four to five one-hour sessions or one half-day session.  In addition, facilitators give an overview of Mount Moriah’s Lifestyle Stewardship Campaign that is currently underway.  Topics include:

  • Session 1: Who Am I?

  • Session 2: What Is the Church?

  • Session 3: How Does a Church Work?

  • Session 4 & 5: What Can I Do? / Where do I start?

  • Session 6: Lifestyle Stewardship
